Austin and Harper run into each other when he comes home after a scandal and volunteers to be a helper in her second grade class. Harper does not know about the viral video of Austin and his ex, Bianca, that has caused his coach and PR representative to banish him to Jessamine. Austin does use Harper as an escape at first and thinks it will help his cause to have pictures of him with the wholesome teacher make the rounds of social media. Finley, his PR rep, eats them up and tells him to continue the positive spin he is putting on his time off. Harper is leery of Austin and especially has a hard time with their 5 year age difference and thinks she will be called a cougar. Austin knows he has feelings developing for Harper but doesn't know what to make of them. Harper's hot/cold behavior towards him doesn't help matters and so they both find themselves in new territory for the both of them. Harper just knows she finds happiness while she is with Austin and he knows he feels freedom to be himself and not worry she is using him. Secrets always have a way of coming out and Austin knows he needs to tell Harper about the beginning of their relationship. The McCoy family loves to beat down their family members at their monthly luncheon and Harper is a target pretty much every month. I felt her mother, Pepper, should have let her quit going a while ago and not subject her to their vicious jibes. Harper and Austin have to find a way to move past his deceptive beginning and find a way to move forward. I did like the book and it flowed well and had an interesting plot. I liked the ending and was glad to see how it all ended for these 2.Product details

Austin Lawson may have all the backing to be a cocky playboy but he is more a southern gentleman who loves his family and falls hard for Harper Bell pretty much the moment he meets her. Of course he doesn't realize what is happening but as you see the other Lawson's make appearances they figure it out and he starts to see that Harper is more than just a temporary attachment.
This is another great installment by Marquita Valentine and another Lawson to fall in love with.

Austin is my new book boyfriend!
While he's a bit naive in how Harper will feel when she finds out she is his PR booster, he does have a good heart. He cooked her steak, made chicken noodle soup when she was sick and felt true remorse when her pesky jealous cousin Jellie had to publicly embarrass Harper. (Maybe Jellie needs a book so we can learn her story!)
Harper eventually follows Austin to Charlotte and they settle their difference - like only a Lawson brother can and end up with their own HEA.
While I know you'll enjoy the other books in this series, you can start here and then backtrack to catch up - while we wait for the next one soon!

I enjoyed how the relationship developed between Austin and Harper. He helped her to see herself in a different light and develop confidence in herself. The book is a quick read and could have had more plot development. Overall, I did enjoy the book.
Another terrific book by Marquita Valentine. Austin is a quarterback that has been having PR difficulties. His ex filmed him breaking up with her and edited it so that it only showed him being cruel and mean. His publicist and coach send him home for a while to get him out of the public eye and hopefully allow his image to recover. To help the time pass & hopefully get some good publicity, Austin decides to volunteer at the elementary school.
Harper is the teacher for the class Austin is volunteering for. She is a sweet, innocent second grade teacher. She stays home most nights and doesn't have much of a social life. Austin decides to start spending sometime with her and sends his publicist pictures to post to "help" out his image. He just doesn't tell Harper about it.
Will their relationship survive once Harper discovers the truth? Is Austin really falling for her or is it all a lie?
Marquita develops such great characters & brings them to life for you. You find yourself rooting for the HEA and groaning when Austin screws up. Her characters are well developed and thought out. The plot lines make sense and are easy to follow. I loved this book & can't wait for more of the Lawson boys!!
Austin is the baby of the Lawson clan. He comes home to nurse his reputation after his ex girlfriend put a video making him look like a royal jerk on the internet. He decides volunteering with kids at the local elementary school will be a good boost to help him back. There he meets Harper, a second grade teacher and an absolute sweetheart.
He has less than honorable intentions at first, seeing dating her as what he needs to get his reputation and place back with his team. Only he doesn't realize that he is going to fall hard for her.
Harper doesn't have the best self esteem. Her mother's side of the family has done wonders with bashing her over and over. She can't believe someone like Austin would want her.
Things seem to be going great with them, they each give in to their feelings, only for the truth to come out and blind side Harper. Austin has to work over time if he wants to keep her.
Two things that brought the rating down...editing was a mess at times. Also, the age difference. I'm just not sure, Lawson or not, that a younger man with the lifestyle Austin has, would go after an older women.
