AN INTRODUCTION TO THE "HOTEL STORIES" SHORT STORY SERIES
Meet Ms N - the most brilliant, unpredictable and occasionally homicidal hotel manager in the world - and her beautiful but naive accomplice Tatiana.
"The Two Rooms" is one of the seven "Hotel Stories" contained in "Hotel Stories The Complete Collection". It serves as a gentle introduction if you fancy dipping a toe in the water. So what is it about?
Ms N can keep her head confronted with any number of crises. But guests who cause trouble had better watch out. When a crusading Prime Minister, a rude gentleman, a specialist call-girl, a billionaire hotel-owner, some Russian ice-hockey fans, a fiery Japanese sushi chef and an award-winning investigative reporter come together, something has to give. But it won't be Ms N.
"A slick read, lots going on here, finely paced and loved the subtle unsheathing of a hidden cutting edge in 5-star hotel-keeping" - author Hugh Pope on "The Two Rooms".
"15 minutes of delightful, dark, twisted and ingenious humour. Enjoy! You'll never make a fuss at a hotel again" - reader review.
"Many years ago I worked in a hotel as a chambermaid. Since then I have stayed in many all over the world. Ms N has the skills to run many of the countries, let alone the hotels. I wish I had worked with her" - reader review.
"It's an unusual male writer who can create such convincing female characters" - reader review.
"Hotel Stories The Complete Collection", also available on , brings together all seven "Hotel Stories", including two, "The Swedish Woman" and "The Three Heads", not available individually.

The Two Rooms AN INTRODUCTION TO THE "HOTEL STORIES" SHORT STORY SERIES edition by Robert Pimm Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
This hilarious story really keeps you in suspense! The single threads of this "hotel story" are woven into a clandestine fuse. You might start off thinking that the only chance the two cool female protagonists would have to solve all their problems was to plant a bomb or set the lobby on fire. But the author is creative enough to construct an imaginative and surprising ending. Probably the reader will long for a good sip of Lagavulin Whisky, strong and smoky, to get rid of the taste of pork which will be left on his or her tongue after having read the last few sentences. I admit I had one!
Your typical horror story involves bodies, Twilight-zone vampires, blood, chain-saws and crazed murderers.
Robert Pimm creates genuine, hilarious horror in a sedate hotel reception. And once you start reading, you can't stop - until - horror - you realise that this is only a short story and - oh no! - it's over.
It all begins so harmlessly. In the reception of an international luxury hotel, sweet-natured receptionist Tatiana and her enigmatic boss Frau N provide 100% guest satisfaction to their VIP guests, who arrived at the hotel armed with platinum membership cards and absurd demands. It comes as a shock to realise as we read that these apparently mundane ingredients provide a recipe for a truly tasty horror story.
Robert Pimm presents his elegant, comic horror with sangfroid. There's not a vampire or chainsaw in sight. I don't believe a word of it when he says this tale has no resemblance to genuine people living - or dead. Mix together Mr Burke being offered a massage and a drink; the Russians wanting to watch the ice-hockey; an angry Japanese woman chef preparing the hotel's world-class sushi; and a national ban on pork. Simmer, and enjoy.
There's no need for bloodbaths. Utter calm, professional politeness and a British stiff upper lip make this short story an irresistible read, both comic and creepy. "May I murder you, Madam?" "So far as I'm concerned, please do so, Sir; but I'd like to prevent you having any unpleasantness with the police."
Delightful, funny and addictive. For more of Tatiana and Ms N, see "The White Blouse" and "Gents".

P.S. Do you travel much? Next time you check in, check out whether it's the lovely Tatiana behind the reception. You may be about to become the subject of Leigh Turner's next story.
A very, very short story with little or no character development. Enjoyable for the ten minutes it lasted but certainly not worth paying for.
A very fast paced short story with interesting, colorful characters brilliantly described. The visual dimension is quite engaging, felt I was there in the lobby watching in real time. Enjoyed it a lot!
A slick read, lots going on here, finely paced and loved the subtle unsheathing of a hidden cutting edge in 5-star hotel-keeping. Look forward to hearing more about Ms N, hotel manager extraordinaire.
Deliciously entertaining, this quality short story will make you look around next time you check into a hotel. Fascinating to think how much goes on every day at top international hotels. Even more fascinating to imagine how they are managed. Leigh Turner brings all this to life with his own unique touch of dark humour. A must read.
